Playing Catch-Up

A lot has happened in 2 months...Ryan is now 10 months old, we celebrated his first Thanksgiving, and he has four new teeth! Ryan is standing, pulling up and taking a few steps when holding on to something. He is very active and loves to be on the go.

Since mid September Ryan has had four ear infections...well, maybe one ear infection that we just haven't been able to clear up. We went this past week to Dr. Trotter (ENT) and we are thinking tubes are in our future. We will see Dr. Trotter again in a few weeks. At Ryan's 9 month check-up Dr. Klemm noticed that Ryan has the beginning of a lazy eye, so we are going to Birmingham in December to see a pediatric eye doctor. Poor guy has been through a lot lately and we are hoping to get him well!

Ryan is "talking" up a storm and I love talking with him. He says several words and knows what they mean. Our newest is uh-oh. :) He has found the tupperware drawer and loves to pull everything out. He is pretty good at entertaining himself. We leave cartoons on the tv all day while we play. He loves Team Umizoomi, Bubble Guppies, Mickey Mouse, Blues Clues, and Diego. I will admit that I like a few of those as well. I am just glad there are some good cartoons that he can watch while learning. Ryan also loves books. He loves to be read to and loves to play with his books.

Ryan was Mickey Mouse for Halloween this year!

Ryan loves going outside to see the horses that live next door.

Barry and I took Ryan to the Birmingham Zoo this fall. He loved it!

We carved our first pumpkin!

Ryan had his 9 month pictures made at the beginning of November. It's amazing to me how much he has changed since his 6 month pictures.

I love times when I can catch the two of them resting together. Ryan loves his daddy!

Ryan went to his first Arab Junior High School basketball game! He loved it and loved watching Thomas Lynn Murphy play!

We celebrated Ryan's first Thanksgiving at my grandmother's house. Ryan loves his Grandma Baker and she loves him. I am so happy she has been able to watch him grow over the last 10 months!

This is the photo dad is using on his Christmas card this year. I love watching our family grow and feel so blessed to have sweet Ryan in our lives! I never knew I could love someone so much.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

8 1/2 Months

I just remembered that I have a blog...oops! I have obviously been a little side tracked lately...with school starting back and trying to adjust our lives to two working parents and a baby. It's been an adjustment, but we are surviving.

I have moved up to first grade this year and am loving it. I have a wonderful class full of 18 precious children. I have always loved teaching, but being a mommy now has made me love it even more. Sure, I wish I could be home with Ryan each day, but he loves being at school around his new friends. Ryan attends Gilliam Springs CDC 5 days a week and loves it. It is so nice to have somewhere for him to go while we are away...and they truly LOVE him. We love Ms. Judy and Ms. Cyndee and can't imagine Ryan in school anywhere else.

Ryan is now about 8 1/2 months old...whew! Time sure has flown fast since we brought him home back in January. He is sitting, trying to crawl, eating like a mad man and is so playful. He has learned to click his tongue, say momma/dada, and play peek-a-boo. He loves being around people! He is always so good when we go to a restaurant or out shopping. I love taking him to the park or even just out in our yard to play. I wouldn't trade this mommy job for anything!

As soon as I upload all of my most recent pictures I will do a post with lots of updated pics. :)

Busy Summer!

So obviously, I haven't blogged in awhile. We have had an extremely busy summer and boy has it flown by! Ryan celebrated his 5 month birthday in June and 6 months just last week. This boy has changed so much over the past few months that there might be a picture overload in this post. :)

Ryan has been eating baby food all summer and loves it! I am making it all from fresh veggies and fruits. It's easy to make and only takes about an hour every couple of weeks to stock the freezer. He has had sweet potatoes, green peas, avocados, pears, apples, carrots, bananas, and apricots (yuck!). He did not like the apricots, but has loved everything else. He is also drinking some juice and water. Thank goodness our little one loves to eat!

We have been to visit Huntsville Pediatrics twice this month due to Ryan having a "summer cold." He has been congested, hoarse, and puny. A lot of that comes from teething, but we were given the ok to start giving him Motrin, which helps a good bit. His bottom gums are swollen, but we haven't seen any teeth yet. We have a good friend, Heather Pettit, who works at Arab High School as the nurse. She has been such a blessing to us because she has saved me from calling the doctor a few times. It is so nice having her right down the street and she loves Ryan and really gives me good advice. :)

I have been working on my School Counseling Intern hours this summer at the high school which means I have had to leave the little guy three days a week. My mother in law has been keeping him two days a week and then he has had the best babysitter, Mallory. He loves Mallory and we were so blessed to find a babysitter who loves him like we do. He will miss seeing her every Monday since he will be starting Gilliam Springs CDC on August 12th (more on that in another post).

My sister introduced Ryan to dirt this past weekend! He LOVED it...like any boy should! Ryan loves his Aunt Babby because she is very entertaining to him! :)

Alright, now for some updated pictures. Sorry for the long post...I will try (haha) not to wait two months until the next post.

Sweet boy has found his feet!

Rolling over...he thinks it's overrated.

Loves his hats and sunglasses!

Besides eating...I think bath time is his favorite time of day!

I took Ryan to visit the cemetery where my Grandpa Baker is buried.

4 months!

We have been pretty busy lately, so I am a little late posting about Ryan at 4 months. Over the past month Ryan has started pushing up while on his tummy a lot more than usual, wanting to sit with assistance, eating homemade baby food, and babbling. Barry and I just love watching him grow and learn new things. It's amazing to sit and watch his face as he tries to figure things out.

Ryan has really started paying attention to his surroundings a lot more. He watches the dogs walk around and is wanting to touch them. :) He also loves his toys, sitting in his high chair, and watching sports with his daddy. We went for Ryan's 4 month checkup on June 12th and he weighed in at 18lbs 6oz! Dr. Klemm said he looks great! Ryan loves going to Huntsville Pediatrics and loves Dr. Klemm and the nurses. He cried very briefly when he got his shots (I think it's the fat legs).

This was one of the first pictures when Ryan started eating baby food. Don't let him fool you...he loves it! So far his favorites are avocados, bananas, pears, and sweet potatoes.

Thank goodness we purchased Sophie Giraffe! Ryan LOVES Sophie!!!

We bought Ryan a swing recently and had it hung outside under one of our big shade trees. He loves going out to swing...loves being outside! I hope he always loves being outside!

Ryan has officially outgrown his bath seat. I picked this inflatable tub up at Wal-Mart and he really enjoys it. He likes that he can kick his legs in the water. I can't wait until he is able to sit alone and wants to play with bath toys! I love bath time!

Well, that's all for now.
Ryan will be 5 months old next week! I ask myself every time I look into his precious eyes...where has the time gone? It seems like we just brought him home and now he is wanting to sit on his own. I can't believe how quickly the little man has grown. I never knew I could love someone as much as I love him.

3 months

It is so hard for me to believe that Ryan is already 3 months old! The past three months have flown by. Ryan is holding his head up so well..he is eating rice cereal in every bottle and sometimes with a spoon. I bought the Baby Bullet to make homemade baby food and I can't wait to start making food for my little man! Ryan is cooing and giggling all the time. He giggles when we change his clothes, diaper, and in his sleep. I love when he is eating a bottle and with his eyes closed he starts to giggle.

Barry and I are so in love with our little man...we can't remember what life was like before sweet Ryan. Now that the weather is getting to be warmer we are looking forward to spending many days outside with Ryan.
