St. Baldrick's Foundation Event

This past Saturday I was blessed to be able to volunteer with such a wonderful foundation. The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding research for cures for child cancers. Each year, 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide. Cancer is the number one disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada.(from the St. Baldrick's website). I have attached a link if you would like to donate to and/or participate in a local event. www.stbaldricks.org
This past weekend's event was hosted by Amy Cagle, mother of Auston Cagle who has been battling leukemia for over a year now. This family is an amazing family and I am so lucky to know them and to have been able to volunteer at such an exciting event. On Saturday, people could register to shave and/or cut their hair. We had over 70 people cut or shave their heads. There were also booths with games for children for $1 (all money going to St. Baldrick's) and a booth with funnel cakes, sno-cones and chicken plates. There was also a silent auction with many items from autographed AL pictures, Auburn footballs, Vera Bradley wristlet, Brighton jewelry and many other things. Thank you to all of the people and businesses who donated items in order to help Amy and her family host such a successful event. I believe they were able to raise $12,000.00 on Saturday! Below are a few snapshots I was able to get from the event.
